Extra, Extra! choreography by Erin Casanega - Click here for a larger image of the poster Extra, Extra! choreography by Erin Casanega

Extra, Extra! combines elements of dance, improvisation, and performance art by four performers, four chairs, a table, and some dirt. Thoughts behind the work are inspired by: resource/source, consumption, depletion, labor, the everyday, questions, headlining, sealing the deal, communication, excess, mental dilemmas, the phenomenon of bottled water, etc.

A solo where dynamic athleticism meets intimate velocity. Choreographer Lauren Kearns emphasizes physical invention, expressive clarity, and detailed musicality to create a multi-sensory experience for the audience. The piece features dancer Jason Aryeh, new to Greensboro via New York and Ghana, and an original percussion score played live by Sandy Blocker.

Only I Remain, choreography by Rachael Mauney - Click here for a larger image of the poster "Only I Remain" choreography by Rachael Mauney

This work is a solo I created originally to explore the ideas of being stained versus being cleansed. Bach's Aria was the inspiration for both movement and text. I discovered that the stain I was really investigating was this human fear of death and loss. The capacity for movement is the contrast to this state of decay.

4x5 alone together, choreography by Sara Tourek - Click here for a larger image of the poster Words and Deeds choreography by Jen Guy Metcalf

"Words and Deeds" is a contemporary duet by Jen Guy Metcalf. The original sound score for the piece included electronic music with the voice of a German woman having a phone conversation. Metcalf wondered what could have been said on the other end of the phone conversation and collaborated with Dr. David Neville who provided a male voice for the sound score.

4x5 alone together, is a contemporary female quintet that is a precise balance of beauty and rawness. It is technically perfect with dancers who embody every aspect of the ethereal feeling. They move in combination with the boldness and darkness of the lighting and music.
